This study wants to learn more about spondyloarthritis, a type of arthritis that causes a lot of inflammation. We are looking for adults who have a parent, sibling, or child who has spondyloarthritis or a similar health problem to join our study.
This registry study wants to find people who may be at risk for spondyloarthritis and follow them over time. By doing this, we hope to learn how spondyloarthritis starts and develops. This could help doctors make better tests to diagnose and treat people with this disease. If you join this study, you will come to CU Anschutz once a year for an in-person visit. Each visit will take about 2-3 hours. During the visit, you will fill out health surveys and have a physical exam. You will also give a stool sample. If you cannot give one that day, we will give you instructions to collect it at home and mail it back. You will have an MRI and an ultrasound of your joints. You will get $20 for each stool sample you give. You will get $30 for each MRI you do. You can stay in the study as long as you want. You can stop at any time, or the study doctor may ask you to stop.
You can join this study if you are an adult and have a parent, child, or sibling who has been diagnosed with spondyloarthritis. This includes ankylosing spondylitis, axial spondyloarthritis, reactive arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease associated arthritis/enteropathic arthritis, or juvenile spondyloarthritis. You can also join if you have certain health problems that increase your risk for spondyloarthritis. This includes inflammatory bowel disease, psoriasis without arthritis, and anterior uveitis. People who do not have any of these health problems can join as healthy volunteers. Healthy volunteers will be checked to make sure that they do not have an inflammatory conditions. You cannot join this study if you are pregnant right now, are younger than 18, are in jail or prison, cannot have an MRI, or have serious memory or thinking problems.
