This research study plans to examine an online stress-resilience (mindfulness-based) program for women in perimenopause who have experienced stress earlier in life. It is also designed to learn about the feasibility, acceptability, and effects of the program on stress, mood, thinking abilities, and health markers.
This research study plans to learn about the feasibility, acceptability, and safety of a stress resiliency program and to describe how stress, mood, thinking abilities, and health signs may change over time among perimenopausal individuals who have experienced stress in childhood. This is a pilot research study, meaning it is designed to evaluate how feasible and acceptable the study procedures are and to help plan future research. Results from this project may help inform the design of future research and interventions to help women in middle age build resiliency to stress, including addressing the unique needs of women who have had stressful childhoods. Participation includes an 8-week online program, questionnaires, thinking tests, and remote collection of small hair and blood samples. Assessments will be scheduled at baseline (90 minutes), week 4 (30 minutes), week 8 (90 minutes), and week 16 (70 minutes). Total participation lasts about 16 weeks. Compensation is provided (up to $170).
