Study on Brain and Vascular Health in People with Endometriosis

This study wants to learn more about the heart and brain health of people with and without endometriosis.

Why this Research Matters

Endometriosis is a common health problem that causes chronic pelvic pain and other symptoms. Even though many people have it, there isn't much research on it. If you join this study, you will have three visits. The first visit is to see if you qualify. You will have a pregnancy test, a blood pressure check, and fill out health surveys. We will take a small blood sample from your arm. If you qualify, you will come back for two more visits. At these visits, you will have a pregnancy test, fill out surveys, and give a small blood sample. We will check your heart and brain health with two different tests using a blood pressure cuff and video clips of your blood vessels using ultrasound. Lastly, you will do balance tests, thinking tests, and have your body composition and bone mineral density measured. You can get up to $125 for participating.

Who can Participate

Adult

You may be able to join if you are a woman aged 18 to 40 with a surgical diagnosis of endometriosis. You may also be able to join if you do not have endometriosis and have never been diagnosed with conditions like PCOS, or low ovarian reserve. You can't join if you are taking medicines for high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer or infertility, if you are pregnant or had a baby in the last year, or if you have serious health problems like heart disease, kidney or liver disease.
