Find a Research Study

Pain can have a huge impact on mental health and overall wellbeing. However, researchers do not fully understand how pain influences alcohol use and mental health in adults. If you are interested in joining this study, you will first have a phone call to learn more about the study. Then you will come to a 2-hour study visit at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. During this visit, you will have a physical exam, answer questions about your health, give small amounts of blood and urine, and do pain and cognitive testing. If you join the study, you will download an app that sends surveys to your smartphone. The study team will teach you how to use the app. You will fill out survey questions five times a day for 30 days. Each survey takes about 3 to 4 minutes. You will not have to pay for any study visits or activities. You can earn up to $335 for completing all study visits and surveys.

Who can Participate

You may be able to join this study if you are between 25 and 80 years old, drink alcohol at least once a week, and have had mild to moderate pain in the past week. The study team will talk to you about any other eligibility criteria at your first visit.
