This study wants to learn more about factors in the body (called biomarkers) that are linked to preventable vision loss and changes in the retina. We will use artificial intelligence (AI) to help find signs of health problems in the body, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease.
We are looking for patients from UCHealth or CU Medicine Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Endocrinology, Neurology, or Cardiology clinics to join our study. If you join, you will have a safe, non-invasive eye imaging test. These tests involve taking photos of your eyes and a scan of the back of your eye. This will take place during or after your routine clinic visit. You will look at a target in the machine while it takes images which will include a flash of light. The images will be used to help build AI algorithms and will be reviewed by a trained eye doctor. You will get a Findings Note if the doctor sees a new or existing issue. You will not get one after a normal review. If the study’s eye doctor finds something that needs follow-up, the Findings Note will tell you when to see an eye specialist. The test will take 4 to 8 minutes. You will not be paid for being in this study. You and your insurance will need to pay for your routine medical care.
You may be able to join this study if you are at least 18 years old, have an email address, and get care at a UCHealth or CU Medicine Cardiology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, or Ophthalmology clinic
