Study to Test the Efficacy and Safety of Anifrolumab in Adults with Chronic CLE

This study is testing a new injectable medication called anifrolumab to see how safe and effective it is for adults with chronic cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE). Our goal is to find better treatments for people living with CLE.

Why this Research Matters

If you qualify and join this study, you will be put into one of two groups by chance, like flipping a coin. You won't get to choose your group. One group will get the study medicine (anifrolumab), and the other group will get a placebo. A placebo looks the same and is given the same way, but doesn't have any real medicine in it. There are two parts to the study. In the first part of the study, you will come in for 8 visits. You will get a shot once a week for 24 weeks. The shot will have either study medicine or the placebo. You, your caregiver, and the study team will not know which you're getting. You or your caregiver will learn how to give the shot at home. In the second part of the study, you will come in for 3 more visits and have 5 home call visits. This time, you will get the study medicine once a week for 24 weeks. At each visit, the study team will check your health and see how the study medicine is working. They will check your skin, take blood and urine samples, check your vital signs (like blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature), do a physical exam, check your heart, and talk about any other medicines you are taking. The study could last about 71 weeks, or a little over a year. If you meet all requirements, you can earn up to $780 if you complete all study visits.
