This study wants to learn more about how estrogen affects women’s reproductive hormones and system.
The goal of this study is to learn more about reproductive hormones and infertility. If you join, you will wear up to five estradiol patches for seven days. This will start at your next menstrual period. These patches are often used to help women who want to get pregnant. The study has three visits to the CU Anschutz Medical Campus. During the visits, you will answer questions about your health, menstrual cycle, and medications. We will check your height, weight, and vitals. We will also take a small blood sample from your arm with a needle. You will be given a urine log sheet and urine collection supplies to collect your urine twice a day for seven days once the patches are placed. You will get $150 if you complete all study visits. Your participation will last for one menstrual cycle.
You may join this study if you are a woman between 18 and 38 years old, have regular menstrual cycles, have a BMI between 18-25 or above 30, have not used hormone medicines or medicines that affect your hormones in the past 3 months, exercise no more than 4 hours a week, do not smoke, and have no history of diabetes or estrogen-related cancers. You also must agree to use condoms or other barrier method, or not have sex during the study.
