This study wants to learn more about how blood sugar levels in healthy children without chronic disease compare to the blood sugar levels of children with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). We are only recruiting children without chronic disease to join the study.
If your child joins this study, they will have one study visit where we will ask about their health, medications, and collect their height, weight, and vital signs. We will also poke your child's finger to collect a drop of blood. Finally, an FDA approved device called a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) will be placed on your child’s skin to wear for 10 days. The CGM measures blood sugar levels through a sensor, a thin short wire, that is placed under the skin on the arm, belly, or upper buttocks. Your child will wear the device for 10 days, or until it falls off. The device will be returned to us by mail, you will not have to return it in-person. You will be paid up to $75 for taking part in this study.
Your child can join this study if they are between 2-6 years old and if they have no chronic disease or illness. Also, your child cannot have a direct family member that has type 1 diabetes.
