Low-load Resistance Training with Blood Flow Restriction in People with Multiple Sclerosis and Advanced Disability: A Randomized Controlled Trial

To investigate a blood-flow restriction exercise-based intervention for people with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

Why this Research Matters

The study involves an exercise intervention focused on improving lower-extremity muscle strength in people with MS who use an assistive device (like a cane) for walking or use a wheelchair. You will be asked to participate in twice weekly exercise intervention visits with a physical therapist for 10 weeks. In addition, there are testing sessions before the first intervention visit, and a testing session after the last intervention visit.

Who can Participate

Adult

Inclusion: People with multiple sclerosis who need assistance (e.g. cane) to walk some or all of the time, or use a walker or a wheelchair. Exclusion: People with MS who can walk without any assistance.
