Impact of Puberty on Heart Health in Adolescents

In this study we want to learn more about how puberty and puberty hormones impact heart health, fitness, and the risk of diabetes in teenagers.

Why this Research Matters

If you join this study, you will come to 4 study visits at Children's Hospital Colorado over the course of 1 year. Two study visits will happen right when you join the study, and the other two visits will be 1 year later. At these study visits we will do a physical exam and have you fill out surveys about your health. We will ask you to drink a sugary drink and then use a needle in your arm to take blood samples. We will use an ultrasound to take pictures of your head, neck, and arm. We will ask you to ride a stationary bike to see how your body reacts to exercise. We will also use a machine to measure the strength of your bones. If you join this study, you will be paid $100 per visit, which adds up to a total of $400 over a year.
