Impact of Blood Volume During Childbirth

In this study we want to learn more about how the body responds to giving birth for cesarean deliveries.

Why this Research Matters

If you join this study, we will perform some tests before your cesarean, during your cesarean, and after you give birth. We will wrap a small sticker around your finger which will measure your blood volume. You will wear this sticker the whole time you are having surgery. You will wear it for 1-3 hours after you have surgery. We will also use an ultrasound machine to take pictures of your heart. We will do this once before you give birth (possibly during your delivery) and once after you give birth.

Who can Participate

Adult

You may be able to join this study if you are pregnant and will be undergoing a cesarean delivery. You cannot join this study if you have been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.
