The Physical, Mental, and Emotional Effects of Youth Girls Flag Football: A Prospective Investigation

Primary Objective

To compare the physical, mental, and emotional effects of high school girls' flag football participation to those of high school girls who do not participate in organized sport over a 9 month period.

Description

Participants will complete three in person visits (1) mid-August 2023 (2) mid/late October 2023 (3) April 2024. They will complete 20 minutes of questionnaires and 20 minutes of functional tests at each visit and receive $50 for each visit completed. Participants will also complete weekly surveys (~10 min) between Visit 1 and Visit 2. They will receive an additional $50 for completing all surveys. If all study tasks are completed participants will earn $200.

Eligibility
We are looking for high school girls who have not participated in organized sport (sport with a coach or teacher present outside of typical school curriculum [not gym class]) in the last year and are not planning on participating in organized sport in the next year. Participants must be able to walk, run, and jump/hop on one leg. They must also have access to a phone or email to receive and complete weekly electronic surveys.
