Healthy Starts: Introducing New Plant-Based Foods to Infants and Toddlers
The goal for this study is to understand how the timing of offering a new food repeatedly affects how much of that food your child eventually accepts and how eagerly they accept it.

You may be able to take part in Healthy Starts if you are at least 18 years old and you have a child between 9-12 months old, who was born full term and does not have a medical condition that makes feeding difficult.
When you enroll, will visit the Children’s Eating Lab in Aurora 4 times over 3 months. You will offer the new food to your child at home 10 times over 6 weeks. As a participant you will receive food to offer your child and a gift card as a thank you for your time.
Main Procedures Involved: Observations of feeding your child in the Lab
Offering your child a new food at home
Completing surveys
Measurement of length/height and weight
Duration of Participation: 3 months
$50 per visit; $200 total
