Description

If you decide to participate in the study, you will be on an intermittent fasting diet three days per week to reduce what you are eating for 6 months. On the intermittent fasting diet days, you will only eat about 500 calories per day. On the other four non-fasting diet days per week, you will eat a reasonable, healthy diet but will not have to limit your calorie intake.

Main Procedures Involved: You also will attend regular weight loss group meetings (60-90 mins) and exercise sessions (45-60 mins) for 6 months. Both are either in-person at the Anschutz Health and Wellness Center or virtual. The weight loss group meetings are held weekly for the first 3 months and then monthly during months 4 through 6. You will attend weekly exercise sessions that will focus on aerobic, resistance, and flexibility exercises. You will be asked to gradually increase your physical activity level during the study.

Duration of Participation: Your participation in the study will be 6 months, once the intervention has started.
