Premature Vascular Aging in Women following an In Vitro Fertilization Pregnancy

Primary Objective

Women who conceive using in vitro fertilization (IVF) may be at increased risk for the development of high blood pressure after pregnancy, a leading risk factor for the development of heart disease. How high blood pressure may develop following a pregnancy conceived through IVF is not known but changes in blood vessel function may be involved. Therefore, the purpose of this research study is to evaluate if women who have had a pregnancy conceived through IVF exhibit increased blood pressure and reduced blood vessel dysfunction compared with women who did not have an IVF pregnancy one-to-five years earlier. To answer this, we will recruit: 1) Women with a prior IVF pregnancy 1-5 years earlier; 2) Women with a healthy pregnancy conceived through natural (unassisted) conception. This study will involve one visit to the CU Anschutz Campus. Compensation is provided.
