Implementation of a novel protocol to measure hypothalamic insulin sensitivity in vivo in human adults

In this study, we are looking at how the brain responds to insulin through stimulation with a glucose infusion

Details
Age

Adult

Eligibility

Adults age 18-40 with no previous diagnosis of diabetes

BMI greater than 18 and less than 25 kg/m2 OR BMI greater than 27 kg/m2 No diagnosis of diabetes, pre-diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome, or cancer of any kind. No diagnosis of severe cognitive disabilities including Down's Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, or age-related cognitive impairment such as dementia. Not currently taking an anti-psychotic, systemic steroid, insulin sensitizing, insulin replacement therapy, or diet or weight loss medication. No MRI contraindications No use of an intrauterine device (IUD) or progesterone-only hormonal birth control, pregnancy or plans to become pregnant.
