Prolonged Sedentary Behavior in Older Women with and without Type 2 Diabetes: Knowledge, Engagement, and Relationship to Cardiometabolic Risk

Description

The purpose of this study is to understand the health effects of the time we spend sitting. We are recruiting women between the ages of 60 and 75 years either with or without a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. Individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes may not be treated with insulin in order to be eligible for the study. Eligible participants will also be non-smokers and not currently involved in an exercise routine.

Main Procedures Involved: Testing of insulin sensitivity and aerobic fitness Assessment of physical activity and time spent sitting Interview and questionnaires

Duration of Participation: 2-3 months depending on scheduling.
